“Eagle’s nest is high in the mountains, where the air is clean and the movement free.”

In 1987, Francine Shapiro was out walking when she realised that eye movements appeared to decrease negative emotion associated with her own distressing memories.  Following extensive research she developed EMDR therapy.

Here the mountain can symbolise negative emotion and difficult memories associated with trauma.  And reaching the summit symbolising the overcoming of life challenges.

Some mountains may seem impossible to climb or be frightening to attempt, the terrain might be treacherous with no obvious pathways. It can be difficult to know where to begin. But with support, each step, we get stronger, walking higher and higher towards the light of the sun. And at the top the views are incredible.
